Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), St.
Augustine, FL
The Orthodox Christian Mission Center together
with the Greek Orthodox Metropolitanate of Buenos
Aires is coordinating The Berisso Project
which is in need of an international team of young
Orthodox Christian adults to repair the homes of
elderly founders of the Orthodox Community in the
town of Berisso, Municipality of La Plata,
Provincias de Buenos
Aires, Argentina.
These elderly families lack the materials,
the tools, and the physical strength to repair
their modest homes.
The Project is a Mission in Christian
Service, given with respect for the individual and
with filial love. This
first OCMC Orthodox Mission Team to Argentina has
been invited by His Eminence Tarasios
to the town of Berisso, Argentina.
The 2006 Argentina Orthodox Mission Team
will assist with construction, repairs and partial
restoration of five (5) dwellings outside of
Buenos Aires.
Team members will work with a local team of
Orthodox youth from Argentina, and have the
opportunity to share what it means to be an
Orthodox Christian.
The Berisso Project will also help develop
a sense of voluntarism with the Orthodox youth
while involving the community at large as well.
Team
members will be housed in homes of the local
Orthodox community members. Some Spanish or Greek fluency would be helpful, and only
basic construction skills are required.
